Coconut oil in my coffee …… yuck
I have seen bullet proof coffee flashing about all over my social media for a while now. I looked it up and have to say the thought of it really put me off. Well then I saw a recipe on Lizzy Kings website www.lizzieloveshealthy.com I tried it and I have not looked back!
If you don’t know Lizzy I would really recommend checking out her website and cook book. She has a wealth of knowledge on how to get healthy food into kids.
Anyway I digress… her recipe added soluble collagen hydrosylate into the mix. I gave it a try and what can I say except for I was wrong! It is delcious, it wakes me up and it keeps me full. It may also have the added benefit of easing my wrinkles. I say may because to be honest the jury is still out on this one. There have been some big claims made and some really interesting preliminary results but no large trials that would give us a convincing answer. However, what I have learnt in the last few years is that if it doesn’t hurt you (which it doesn’t) and it might help you (which it might), then well why not do self experimentation and see if it benefits you. I have been taking it daily for a month now and I think my skin is in much better condition.
I use this collagen that I brought from my local health food store.
I know a lot of people recommend the Great Lakes brand
Lizzy King’s collagen coffee recipe:
Cup of filter coffee (I use my nespresso machine to make mine)
1 Tbsp of collagen hydrosylate
1 tsp vanilla essence
1tsp-1 tbsp coconut oil
+/- stevia for sweetness
Blend and enjoy. Blending is an important step so that all the elements combine to make a yummy frothy coffee.
Please let me know how you get on with this recipe and also go and show Lizzie King some love.
